Hilary Duff meets Nietzsche

Who won the 2004 Hilary Duff essay contest? Several tween girls. And a six-foot-six man with a two-foot beard.

Listen here.

This is a story about intensely academic all-male college, and its obsession with Disney pop princesses.

Appropriately, all music in this piece is sung by the titular princess.

Ovid's Metamorphoses is a beautiful survey of transformations in Greco-Roman meythology. In Kafka's The Metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa awakes an insect. Hilary Duff, obviously following in the tradition of these great forebears, chose to call her first album Metamorphosis.

Lovely. And lovely podcast, sugar.
Metamorphoses? :-D
Awesome to stumble on your blog Hammad (this is Sophia from TASP). Great to see--or hear--all the amazing things you've been up to :-)
I see someone beat me to the connection :), for which I had to look up Duff's discography on Wikipedia. Deep Springs sounds like a very interesting school -- of course it would be in California.
